Salary - $70,434–$86,500 / yr
Requirements
Must have
- Mid level
- Minimum of 5 years of E&S company or general agency P&C underwriting experience
- Working knowledge of general liability, property and package underwriting
- Familiarity with endorsements, including pro-rata and short-rate computations
- Working knowledge of Microsoft programs such as Word and Excel
- Ability to type 40 WPM
- Ability to read and interpret underwriting manuals and procedural manuals
- Excellent organization and communication skills, oral and written
- Occasionally lift up to 25 lbs, sometimes as much as 50 lbs
Nice to have
- 4-year college degree from an accredited institution
- Professional designations such as CPCU, ASLI, AU or CIC
What you'll actually do
- Underwrite and price new and referred renewal accounts
- Manage renewal premium for an assigned group of General Agents in the region
- Serve as point of contact for assigned General Agents for renewal business
- Monitor production, hit ratios, renewal retention ratios and other quality measures
- Gather market data for new markets, products and segments and track competitor activity
- Mentor less experienced underwriters on workflow, processing and rating
