Requirements
Must have
- Lead level
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Sterile processing certification (CRCST or CSPD)
- Annual continuing education credits required by NY State and to maintain certification
- 2+ years of experience processing surgical instrumentation
- Knowledge of surgical instruments, trays and equipment used within facility
- Lift/carry up to 25 lbs
- Manual dexterity; stand, bend, lift and reach for extended periods
- Communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing
What you'll actually do
- Lead and guide sterile processing staff in the reprocessing of reusable instrumentation and equipment
- Participate in orientation and ongoing training of sterile processing staff
- Assist in prioritizing and assigning work based on workflow fluctuations
- Serve as liaison to other departments and coordinate resources for problem resolution
- Disassemble, clean, sterilize, reassemble and package sterile supplies per specifications
- Operate washers, ultrasonic machines, steam and ethylene oxide sterilizers and heat sealers
