Requirements
Must have
- Valid license to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in the State of California
- Bachelor's degree with completion of an accredited clinical laboratory training program
- Minimum 1 year recent experience in an approved hospital laboratory
- Knowledge of clinical laboratory instruments, equipment, terminology and routines
- Knowledge of quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control procedures
- Knowledge of federal, state and local laws governing clinical laboratory practices
- Ability to handle absentee replacement on short notice
- Ability to work occasional irregular hours
Nice to have
- American Society of Clinical Pathology certification
What you'll actually do
- Perform quantitative and qualitative clinical laboratory determinations as requested by physicians
- Procure specimens, compute test results and submit completed reports
- Plan and organize diagnostic testing procedures on patient specimens
- Maintain concise and complete records and test reports
- Participate in quality assurance, quality control, proficiency testing and policy and procedure review
- Participate in in-service training and staff development
