Requirements

Must have

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Level II ACIC/NCIC certification within 12 months of employment
  • Working knowledge of radio/dispatch procedures and basic computer systems, or ability to obtain
  • Typing speed of at least 35 WPM
  • Ability to think and act clearly in stressful situations and emergencies
  • Ability to reduce rambling caller messages into concise, accurate messages to responders
  • Ability to speak clearly and distinctly with good listening skills
  • Pass background investigation and criminal history check; no medical marijuana use

Nice to have

  • 1–5 years of previous dispatch experience

What you'll actually do

  • Receive and handle incoming 911 and non-emergency calls for police, fire and medical
  • Radio dispatch appropriate emergency responders to emergency and non-emergency situations
  • Determine call criteria and appropriate response
  • Enter calls for service into the Motorola Flex system
  • Query and enter law enforcement data on warrants, criminal history, missing persons, stolen property
  • Communicate with other agencies via ACIC and telephone
