Requirements
Must have
- High school diploma or GED
- 1 year of experience
- Good general mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and technical specifications
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Physical ability to lift heavy tools and stand for long periods
- Ability to work in a mill environment and from height as necessary
- Use required PPE and follow mill safety procedures
What you'll actually do
- Sharpen, bench, level, tension, and align circular saws, band saws, and other cutting tools
- Inspect saws for cracks, wear, and defects; repair or replace saws as needed
- Maintain proper saw tooth geometry, including side clearance, hook angle, and kerf
- Operate and maintain filing room equipment such as grinders, swages, welders, and tensioning machines
- Monitor saw performance during production and adjust saws or guides to improve cut quality
- Work closely with millwrights and machine operators to troubleshoot sawing issues
