Requirements

Lead level
Minimum of 4 years of structural fitter experience
Pass a tack welding test; six-part practical test using an oxy-fuel cutting torch
Proficiency in reading and understanding blueprints
Tape measure use and basic math with fractions (carpenter's math)
Able to climb ladders or stairs and work above ground; comfortable with heights
Able to work in confined spaces and kneel, bend, walk or stand for long periods
Able to fit and weld while wearing required PPE, including a respirator
Willing to work overtime, weekends and holidays as needed

Lay out, position, align and fit together fabricated metal parts in preparation for welding
Inspect tack welds for conformance to specifications
Read blueprints or other specifications and measure to specifications
Identify parts for assembly in proper order
Cut and wash with oxy-fuel torch
Tack weld pieces together
