Requirements
Must have
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 3 years of demonstrated experience of Native American culture
- Valid California Class C driver license and insurability under the Tribe's vehicle insurance
- Mandated Reporting Certificate of Training and CPR/AED/First Aid certification
- Valid Food Handler's Card
- Knowledge of Tribal traditions, culture and instructional techniques for cultural classes
- Background investigation under P.L. 101-630 and pre-employment drug screening
- Lift 5–25 lbs, sit for extended periods, bend, kneel or crouch
Languages
- Native American language (oral and written)
What you'll actually do
- Facilitate, oversee and conduct cultural education classes on Native American culture and traditions
- Develop and implement lesson plans, coordinate events and build community relationships
- Conduct native language immersion instruction, translate educational documents and run workshops
- Research, collect and prepare cultural materials; consult with Elders and traditional sources
- Prepare gatherings, including cooking, setting up and clean-up
- Drive clients to classes and events as necessary
